Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

It’s been almost 8 months and I’m still at a loss for words to fully express what the loss of my friend Jeff truly means. For those who know me and those who don’t, thank you for creeping me, I am not a feelings guy and definitely not on social media. I keep them inside and push others away as a result. I have decided to attempt to change my ways so the loss of Jeff is not lost in a stat. Mental health is real and causes unnecessary grief for too many families and friends of lost loved ones. Jeff wasn’t heard for a variety of reasons and I’m here to speak to help end this stigma.

How does one say goodbye, it’s a question I’ve been asking for months now. I’ve written, rehearsed, gone over in my mind what to say 100s of times and nothing seems good enough to honour my friend that I considered a brother. What is good enough, it’s something we all want to be whether for a friend, job, hobby, partner etc. and we get lost trying to achieve this made up thought with some of us staying lost in a vicious cycle.

I remember my whole conversation with Jeff that early morning the day I was broken like I don’t remember ever being. Like all of us I’ve lost loved ones over the years but this one hurt differently. I don’t know why, was it because of his beautiful family left behind, could I have done more leading up to the night, could I have done more on the phone, called someone after or being selfish because I lost someone who really understood me and I wouldn’t be able to cope. . The answer at the end is I don’t know and it broke me for months. I went over and over what I could have done until I got lost in that good enough cycle with a grim outlook. It wasn’t until my shrinky lady pulled me out by suggesting I was his calming support that night, knew I would be there just to listen and have a few laughs, sadly nobody could have done anything.

You were the old man, one day I will be older than you and it doesn’t seem fair. There was so much left in life for you and I wanted to be there supporting you the whole way. I wont get to see Jacob finally beat you up, oh he was getting so close but you used your old man techniques to survive. I wanted to be there when the girls had their first dates to interrogate like Will and Martin. Sit on your beloved street in your double chair chirping everyone with a Bud Light in our hands, wondering why nobody wants to play basketball with you, me and Jacob. Compete in Movemebr every year and finally shave a moustache in our chests. I can go on forever about what I will miss and will probably talk about it again at some point but for now I’ll remember how great you really were and we were all lucky.

I have laughed, I have cried, I have got angry, I have shut down, I have drank then rinsed and repeated far too many times. I just want my friend back but that’s not an option. There is going to come a time where I’ll have to remember you longer than I knew you and it hurts to think of that. You said you loved me before you hung up and I truly hope you meant it. I don’t know why you had to go that night so abruptly and it will hurt forever, I wish I could have kept you on the phone forever. I will always be here watching out for Lindsay, the kids, and that annoying dog that bullies Rolo. My ask is to watch over all of us like you did while here, maybe point me in the direction of some good karma because we all know I could use it.

You will always be a hall of famer to me, until we meet again, and we can roast everyone like Statler and Waldorf with an unlimited amount of Bud Light, I will always remember you, that stupid handle bar moustache and child like writing every time I look down at my arm. Rest easy my friend and they truly broke the mold when the made you ✌️
