Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Stigma surrounding mental health keeps so many men from accessing the support they need.
My own experience with mental health has been a struggle for many years. I’ve found some of the biggest positive change has come through sharing my story and making connections with others.
Movember helps to start vital conversations about men’s mental health that can help men find the resources they need to be healthy. For many, opening up and taking the first step to share from personal experience can be the hardest part of getting help. Cultivating a safe, stigma-free space to have vulnerable conversations doesn’t just help people — it saves lives.
By raising funds, raising awareness, sharing my own story, and growing a greasy stache, I’m tackling mental health head-on. Help me stop men dying too young.
