My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

This Movember, I'm deeply moved to join the movement to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues. Movember is about more than just growing mustaches—it’s about saving lives and making a real difference.

Men face serious health challenges, including mental health struggles, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Alarming stats show that men are three times more likely to experience addiction and substance abuse, and account for over 75% of suicides in Canada. These figures are not just numbers—they represent fathers, brothers, sons, and friends.

By participating in Movember, I hope to shine a light on these critical issues and support initiatives that improve and save lives. Thank you to everyone who supported my efforts. Together, we can create a world where men live healthier and longer lives, surrounded by the love and support they deserve.

Growin out again

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men, except for skin cancers. The chance of getting prostate cancer goes up as a man gets older. Most prostate cancers are found in men over the age of 65. African American men and Caribbean men of African ancestry are more likely to develop prostate cancer than men of other races. Having one or more close relatives with prostate cancer also increases a man’s risk of having prostate cancer.

In 2009, approximately 238,000 people died in Canada, including 3,890 suicides. This resulted in 11.5 suicides per 100,000 people. That year, 2,989 men committed suicide (17.9 deaths per 100,000), compared with 901 women (5.3 deaths per 100,000).

“How and why suicides happen is incredibly complex. What we do know is that helping men establish better social connections can improve their overall wellbeing and reduce the risk of suicide. In our mission to make lasting change and dramatically reduce the rate of male suicide, Movember funds community-based early intervention programs that address mental health through a male lens.”

Canada has the highest suicide rate (suicides per 100,000) for men and women aged 45 to 59. This is unlike most other countries, where suicide rates tend to be higher among older adults than among middle-aged adults.
