Our Motivation

Be proud of yourselves! Stop men dying too young. Join the Saanich family that has been raising Movember funds for 14 years strong! Coming together to make a difference!

We aim to make 2024 a year in remembrance of our Movember leader Adam Flint. His passing was unexpected and to honour Adam we hope many can join the cause and support men's health.

Hey Team! Great start to the year. I do need help with someone taking on being the captain of Movember as I have some personal issues to attend to. Anyone willing to step up? Means helping spread the word, encourage support and would love to see some sort of end of Movember wrap up event planned with one last final fundraising push. Let me know if you are able to take this on! Appreciate it!!

3. Know the numbers: At 50 (45 if you are of African or Caribbean descent or have a father or brother with prostate cancer), talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it's right for you to have a PSA test.
4. Know the nuts. Simple: Get to know what's normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn't feel right.
5. Move, more: Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good!

I'm liking the Week 3 moustache!

I thought I'd share 5 Things Every Man Should Know:
https://ca.movember.com/mens-health/general
1. Spend time with people who make you feel good: Stay connected. Your mates are important and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check in and make time.
2. Talk, more: You don't need to be an expert and you don't have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening and giving your time can be life-saving.

This is my week 1 moustache - feeling good!

I was reading about navigating conversations with men in your life who might be struggling. A good resource is ALEC:
A sk observational questions.
L isten without judgement or solutions.
E ncourage action such as seeking professional help.
C heck in based on genuine care.

You can read more and have practice conversations here:

I really thought 500km was a bit much to ask but in the end it became routine! Hopefully I can keep it up but for now - my knees and feet need a break. Congrats to the League of Municipal Ladies and Gentlemen for topping last years record! Great work everyone!!
