Mental health and suicide prevention

Suicide. Let’s end it.

I’m ‘Saving Sixty’, hoping to run and walk 60km this Movember for the 60 men we lose to suicide every 60 minutes, around the world.

Movember aims to reduce the rate of male suicide 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there.

I personally have several Diagnoses, take medication, and go to therapy, and at times, I have felt like ending my life.
We're breaking the stigma helping men to no longer suffer in silence and here to say that It's OK to Not Be OK. There is help, there is support.

Help me stop men dying too young.

Great work on bringing awareness to important causes, Mike—and for including us all in the movement. You even got semi-naked. Well done.

We are so grateful for your support.
We are humbled to have smashed our fundraising goal, and are enjoying Mo’ving our way to our fitness and mindfulness goals.

We are here to break the stigma, redefine what ‘being a man’ is, and encourage healthier, more balanced living. Mo’vement is key, as well as deep, meaningful connections.
#ItsOKtoNotBeOK, and there are supports for you.

We have been running, cycling, swimming, climbing, squatting, and other Mo’vements for the cause. Some attend to injuries, but still find ways to Mo’ve.

Stay tuned for some fun activities in the final push.

Thanks again,
- Captain Michael

Had a few stints of jogging. Knees aren’t ready yet. Happy to get out there for the sixty we lose every hour.

I’m being kind to myself, I’m recognising my accomplishments. 7km was short of my intention, but not a short distance. My time was decent. And I got out and did it even when my body was not feeling it’s best once I got out. I was kind to myself when I listened to my knees, and stopped for today. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Great pace today on the 60x60
Shorter distance was needed after yesterday’s 10km.

Great to mix up running styles and incorporate other activities as well.

Day 15 - The halfway point

We’ve demolished our fundraising team goal of $500. When I started this team, that was what I thought would be a lofty goal... the outpouring of support both in donations and conversation has been at times overwhelming.

Thank you.

We’re not even close to done yet. We’re going to push even harder in the last half to set a high-water mark for next year both in dollars and kilometres.

We are Mo’ving a ton out there; I’ve personally ran over 100km.
Make no mistake, I’m saving my own life here too.

Thanks for the support

Day 5 of the 60x60 (3,600 metres and more) every day of Movember. I feel strong on the runs but my body hurts.

Thanks for the support and generosity thus far. We’re not done yet, and going to keep running and fighting until we put an end to suicide.

We surpassed our team goal of $500 early on, but we need to keep up momentum.

I’m running extra, about double the 60x60 (3,600 metres) each day because my struggle to keep running is nothing compared to the struggle facing so many with mental illness. We’re helping.

Let’s keep Mo’ving and donating

Thanks again,

Michael
