My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

Prostate Cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. Every year I participate is dedicated to my Movember Teammate and Father who lost his battle with Prostate Cancer in April 2017. The efforts he made to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer, his desire to start open dialog on the disease with others, and the funds in excess of $30k he raised through is 8 years of participation to improve the lives of others is a true testament to his belief in this cause, and the spirit of the man that he is.

I'm also dedicating my efforts to my 3 boys that I intend to be around for and support for many decades to come so that they don't have to endure the challenges that this disease can cause.

I support Movember as I believe that the efforts they put forth are truly changing the odds for men worldwide. I do not want myself, or those close to me to become a statistic.

I was glad to see your mother at Co-op 2025 this year to present the Bill Rice Tidy Camper Awards.

All the best.

As you probably know, I have been fighting my own prostate cancer battle. Fortunately all my treatments are over, and I can only hope that cancer is now in the rear view mirror.
Your dad helped me during my first scare fifteen years ago when fortunately the biopsies came back negative.
I am blown away with the advances over the last 15 years, starting with an MRI before the biopsy. They could then target the locations for the biopsy and it allowed me to be a good candidate for high dosage radiation bracchytherapy, followed by external radiation treatments. I learned after the bracchytherapy that two doctors from other countries were there to learn the procedure to take back to their respective countries.
This disease is no longer as big a threat as it was for your dad. I think of him often, especially when I was receeiving treatment.

We did so much with your dad. He was a big part of my life growing up. Memories I will never forget. Paddling along the Rideau canal. Kananaskis Jamboree. Thunder Bay Jamboree. Teaching me hair doesn't burn well. Picking me up after falling down the side of a cliff. I can keep going. But ultimately...teaching me respect, kindness and courage.

A HUGE thank you to all those who supported me though the 2018 Movember campaign, not only through donations, but with your positive comments throughout the month. With everyone’s help I was able to surpass my target and raise $4,745 this year. Thank you.
