My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Prostate cancer
Testicular cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

Let's be honest, nobody needs to be educated about cancer. "Cancer's horrible" - Yeah. We know. "We need effective treatments" - Duh. "Research takes money" - Calling Captain Obvious! You don't need me growing hair to tell you that. We're here for one reason - to legitimize sporting a glorious 'stache in public. Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, Freddie Mercury, probably some other famous person under 70...we know they're awesome. Show me someone who doesn't secretly harbour a desire to don acid-wash jeans, a tight white tee, and the lushest, thickest lip warmer in history, and I'll show you someone who's lying. If it cures cancer in the process, bonus.

And really - most men are dumb. A back slap counts as expressing ourselves. I'm pretty sure it was a man that invented stuffing one meat inside another meat, inside another meat, then wrapping it in bacon. I don’t lift with my legs, I don’t talk about my feelings. I consider shutting off the breaker a suggestion. I tried to walk off a broken hand rather than see a doctor. “Oh, that? Yeah that bone’s always poked out”. Health care research needs as much funding as possible so that when idiots like me finally see someone, it’s not too late.

On a serious note - the mental health aspect resonates with me. I’ve been through it. I ignored my mental health until it damaged everything in my life. It was embarrassing and I'm still dealing with it. If growing hair and a bit of humour can change that for someone else, I’m in.

This is unintentional, but by growing the 'stache I am giving up all hope of a kiss, or even a look that isn't a disgusted grimace, from my spouse for 30 days.

Another November, another Movember. I'm noticing a disturbing trend in that the older I get, the harder it is to shave for this. Grey hairs are tough!
