My motivation

After four years of growing my beard, I wanted a meaningful reason to finally shave it off - and Movember felt like the perfect cause to do it for.

At first, it was a simple thought: if I’m going to shave, it should be for something bigger than me. But the more I sat with it, the more it connected. My stepfather battled both prostate and oesophageal cancer, and those experiences left a mark. Being a dad myself, I think a lot about the kind of example I’m setting - that strength isn’t about keeping quiet or pretending everything’s fine. Men today don’t need to bottle things up. Talking, checking in, and getting checked is being strong.

The beard doesn’t define me. Shaving it off is my way of showing that real confidence comes from what’s underneath - not just the beard, but the willingness to be open, vulnerable, and human.

As the razor comes out, the goal is to raise $2,000 to support men’s health - from cancer research to mental health and suicide prevention. If one conversation or donation helps a man open up or reach out, that’s worth far more than the beard I’m losing.

getting involved
Campbell River Fire Rescue
Team captain Cody Gent
$5,837 Team funds raised
I’ve teamed up with Mark Myles, and together we’re putting our beards on the line. If we collectively raise $2,000, the beards come off. What are you giving up to change the face of men’s health?

Movember 30 is just around the corner so it's time to sound the siren for the final push!

Thank you for fueling the flames of support throughout Movember.
As we prepare for the final rescue operation, take a moment to survey the scene—you’ve helped raise the ladder for men’s health with every ‘stache, every event, and every dollar raised.

Mark your calendars: the leaderboards will officially close on Wednesday, December 10th, at 5 PM EST. That’s when we’ll announce the 2025 Great Canadian Fire Challenge Champion. Donations can still roll in after this deadline, but they won’t count toward the leaderboard standings.

Let’s finish strong and douse the flames of men's health challenges together. Thank you for being the firefighters behind this incredible movement!

Feeling incredibly grateful today. With the support from all of you - every donation, message, and share - Mark and I have blown past our original Movember goal. We didn’t expect this kind of momentum, but you showed up in a huge way.
A big shoutout to Quest Shoes & Clothing and Blundstone for joining the cause and adding an amazing incentive to keep things rolling. Their support means we can push even further for men’s health.
So… we’re upping the stakes.
New combined goal: $4,000.
We’re all-in to push awareness and support for men’s health even further.
Let’s see how far this community can take it.

We’re well over half of our Movember goal - and honestly, Mark Myles and I feel incredibly grateful. Every donation, message, and bit of support means more than we can say.

When this started, it was just about shaving the beard for a cause.. but it’s turned into something bigger - seeing friends, family, and even strangers come together for men’s health and mental wellness.

Now, let’s get Mark to the $1K goal! Then we re-assess the fundraising mark.
