Around 10% of Canadian men experience significant mental health challenges in their life
Approximately one million Canadian men suffer from major depression each year
On average, approximately 4,000 Canadians take their own life each year, of those suicides; 75% are men

On August 1, 2021, the EI Cup lost its MVP and our community lost a friend, teammate, brother, and son. On this day, Jevon Link lost his battle with depression. Our hearts were shattered and our hope that our MVP would win the battle, like he had so many before, was lost.

The sad part is that we all knew - but we just didn’t know enough.

Now, we are calling on you to help us end the stigma around men’s mental health and depression. More research is required and more resources must be made available. In some cases, it takes months to get the basic help required for someone who is suffering with mental health issues; sometimes people don’t have that much time.
This November, the EI Cup is growing a MO for Men’s Mental Health and Depression. Some will be furry, thick and attractive and some will resemble a drowned rat. However, they will all be for the same cause.
