The Movember Construction Challenge once again rallied Canada’s construction industry for a month of big moustaches, even bigger conversations, and game-changing fundraising for men’s health. In 2024, the challenge smashed records with over 1,400 participants raising a phenomenal $967,000 — funding critical men’s health programs in mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
A huge congratulations to Ledcor, who nailed it as our 2024 Construction Challenge champions, raising an incredible $112,000. Special props to Craig Lesurf of Gillam Group, this year’s top individual fundraiser, bringing in over $45,000 to support men’s health initiatives.
The leaderboard stayed hot all month long with a tight race between many incredible teams.

In an industry where over 85% of the workforce is male, the connection to Movember’s mission continues to grow stronger each year. And it’s not just about raising funds — it’s about breaking down barriers and building healthier, safer, and more supportive workplaces for everyone.
Mark Whitehead, Construction Director at CPAC, shared: “There is a huge amount to be done in terms of changing attitudes towards mental health support in the industry. At CPAC, we are always looking for ways to raise awareness and improve our understanding. The key thing is it’s all about how we can be creative about things and build better systems specifically designed for men. There is a lot more to be done, but we’re getting there.”
And for Rob Reid, Co-Captain of the Ledcor Movember Team, it’s a message that hits close to home: “The biggest challenge we need to overcome is this mentality that we need to ‘tough it out.’ My least favourite phrase right now is ‘man up.’ We need to talk about our problems, discuss our feelings, and get things checked out when they don’t feel right. Every conversation we have about our health could save someone’s life.”
The strides made, funds raised, and lives impacted wouldn’t be possible without the incredible spirit of the construction industry. Every participant, donor, and team captain played a crucial role in making this campaign one for the record books.
