Movember Construction Challenge

The annual Movember Construction Challenge is your time to dig into men’s health awareness while competing for fundraising glory against names big and small across the entire construction sector. From suppliers and trades, to builders of highways, skyscrapers and homes – all are welcome to take part. Are you up for the challenge?

Why it matters

The construction industry workforce is predominantly male. It also has one of the highest suicide rates in any industry. In fact, the suicide rate in the construction industry is 1.8 times that of all working age males.

The annual Movember Construction Challenge will shine a light on men’s health, while encouraging participants to genuinely have fun as they do a whole heap of good.

The Movember Construction Challenge is for anyone in the industry who wants to:

  • Have fun and build camaraderie in your team.
  • Start important conversations around men’s mental health and wellbeing for 30 days.
  • Unite your company across teams and locations for a shared purpose.
  • Ignite friendly competition with suppliers, clients, and industry rivals.
  • Raise lifesaving funds and awareness for a cause that affects everyone.

Mark Whitehead on the importance of looking after your mental health
There is a huge amount to be done in terms of changing attitudes towards mental health support in the industry. At CPAC, we are always looking for ways to raise awareness and improve our understanding. The key thing is it’s all about how we can be creative about things and build better systems specifically designed for men. There is a lot more to be done but we’re getting there.

Frequently asked questions

Can my company have more than one Movember team?

Absolutely. Multiple Movember teams are a great way to increase the friendly competitiveness among departments and site locations. If you’d like the fundraising total from all your company teams to appear as an aggregate amount on the Construction Challenge leaderboard, contact us and we can set up a custom ‘network’ page for your company.

Do I need to grow a moustache to take part?

Men’s health affects everyone. So, if you can’t (or don’t want to) grow a Mo, don’t fret, there are plenty of other ways to get face deep into the movement:

  • Move for Movember: Move 60km over the month for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour.
  • Mo Your Own Way: Get creative and devise your own challenge.
  • Host a Mo-ment: Create a Movember event to help raise funds and awareness for the cause.
  • Lead your company campaign as Movember Team Captain or create a Movember planning committee.

How can women get involved?

While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sisters (women who love Mo’s and want to support men’s health) do a lot of important work for Movember. Mo Sisters can raise funds and awareness by signing up and pledging to Move, Host or Mo Your Own Way.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised during Movember go towards supporting innovative world-class men’s health projects in our key focus areas – mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. These projects are funded either directly by Movember or through our men’s health partners. Learn more about our impact.
