Prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide and it became much more personal for me. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2020, after a decade of annual tests and occasional biopsies. I had an aggressive form of prostate cancer and was very fortunate to catch it fairly early. I had my prostate gland removed ASAP in early November 2020 and started growing my Mo while in hospital. As with other cancer survivors I am undergoing regular testing to discover if it has started or spread elsewhere. Three years later, I am still in the clear! I'm still healing, mentally and physically, and striving to maintain a positive outlook.
One of the goals of the Movember Foundation is to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I would like to help them get there. I lost my father to prostate cancer in 2010, and I have friends who have suffered the same fate themselves or with a family member. This will be my fifteenth year growing a Mo, and I hope to continue raising funds and awareness.
Progress is continually being made in the battle to reduce and treat prostate cancer. A couple of friends were diagnosed this past year, and their surgeries and recoveries were much quicker than mine, thanks to improvements in testing and surgery. Our contributions are working! Thank you!

I took a photo of my mo this morning. It looks the same as last year :)
Coincidentally, I was at the clinic this morning for the next scheduled PSA test. Fingers crossed that it is undetectable again. I urge all the men out there to insist on adding the PSA test to their regular blood panel, especially after they reach 50 years of age. Another friend of mine was just diagnosed, and he had robotic surgery right away, and was up and around again within days - that demonstrates the progress that they have made in just two years.

A very good day! Catheter is out, and pathology report was favourable. Almost certain that we got rid of the cancer. Back in 6 weeks, then every three months, then six months, then annually. Looking forward to Christmas, and getting back to golf in the spring! Also attached a pic of my Mo from this morning - might need to start adding some colour to it...

I've been told that surgery went well this morning. I'll talk with the surgeon tomorrow. Here I am on my first night in hospital. The Mo is growing, and we're giving it a little extra oxygen

Mo is doing very well. I took it down to Kentucky for a few days for optimal growth. One more week for the Mo! I'm not lying down in the photo - just technologically challenged...
