Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Prostate cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

Life, grief, loss, and the years of exposure to trauma as a First Responder...it changes you. I’ve seen and carried more than I ever imagined when I started my career in the fire service over 32 years ago. For a long time, I didn’t realize how much of that weight I was bringing home. I was short-tempered, exhausted, and disconnected, and that wasn’t the dad, partner, or friend I wanted to be.

Now that I’m retired, I’ve had time to reflect and to keep doing the real work, the internal kind. Healing doesn’t happen by accident. You have to be intentional about taking care of yourself. You have to recognize when you’re hurting, be brave enough to reach out, and remember that you’re not alone in it.

Movember has been a huge part of that journey for me. It’s given me a platform to share my story, connect with others who’ve walked similar paths, and help normalize these conversations about men’s mental health. The truth is, it’s not a weakness to ask for help; it’s courageous! Every time we talk openly, listen with empathy, and show up for one another, we help break the stigma that keeps too many men suffering in silence.

Your support for Movember fuels real progress, funding groundbreaking research, life-changing treatment programs, and community-based initiatives that are saving and changing lives. From prostate and testicular cancer research to innovative mental health and suicide prevention projects, Movember’s impact is global and deeply personal.

Together, we can make sure more men get the support they need when they need it most. Every donation, every conversation, every moustache grown, it all adds up to a movement that’s changing the face of men’s health.

Thank you for standing with me, for showing up, and for helping men live healthier, longer, and more connected lives!

Today, we’re excited to share the final results of the 2025 Great Canadian Fire Challenge — and what an incredible month it has been.

Fire halls and departments across the country came together to raise $ 374,638 for men’s health. That’s 895 firefighters across 164 halls and departments, united for a cause that hits close to home.

Now for the big moment.

With a remarkable $28,392 raised, Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire is your 2025 Great Canadian Fire Challenge Champion.

A huge congratulations as well to our top individual fundraiser, Michael Junior, who raised $8,864.

This year’s leaderboard was tighter than ever. Toronto Fire claimed silver and Coquitlam Fire and Rescue took bronze, with Southern Georgian Bay Firefighters and Oakville Fire closing out the top five.

To every firefighter, captain, and community member who got involved — thank you. Your efforts will help fund life-changing programs in mental health, suicide prevention, and cancer support for men across Canada.

Your leadership makes a difference, on and off the job.

Steve's Story - The Real Face of Men's Health

A career firefighter, Steve started to notice he was taking his stress and trauma from his calls home to his daughter. He knew something needed to change.

Men’s health impacts us all because we all have fathers, brothers, sons, partners, and friends whom we love.

When these men are unwell and unsupported, we all feel it. But when they’re well, the benefits ripple through relationships, families and communities.

Attention Great Canadian Fire Challenge - it's time for liftoff!

The hairiest month of the year is here, and we’re ready to change the face of men’s health.

Whether you’re Growing, Moving, Hosting, or Mo’ing Your Own Way – we salute you! Every whisker grown, step taken, event hosted, or bold dare accepted helps Movember raise critical funds and awareness for men’s health.

Teams are already rising up the leaderboard for a shot at gold. Who will take it home this year?

Let the Celebration Begin! We're thrilled to announce the triumphant finale of our 2023 Movember campaign – and oh, what a ride it's been! A round of applause and cheers to the Southern Georgian Bay Firefighters, our Challenge champions, and a standing ovation for the outstanding Samantha Barnett, our top fundraiser! A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for being the driving force behind bringing Movember to life. Your dedication is more than just admirable; it's a beacon of hope for men's health. With your unwavering support, we're not just breaking ground; we're lighting up the path to reach more men and save more lives. We've now arrived at Movember 30 and everyone in this challenge should pause for a moment to reflect on an amazing job done, what can only be described as an epic 'stache and an impressive commitment to help change the face of men's health.

As Mo season is coming to a close, I want to flag that the leaderboards will officially close on Thursday, December 7th at 5 pm EST, marking the moment we crown our 2023 Movember champions of each challenge. While donations can still be received after this time, please note that they won't contribute to the leaderboard race.

Thanks for all you have done this year and will continue to do as we move forward.

United We Mo!!!

So glad to have you back again this year - one more day to go! We really appreciate all you've done from men's health. The fundraising yes - but the connection and conversations you've started with your efforts - good as gold! Thank you!

One man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides. This is the shocking state of men’s mental health globally. I’m proud to support the fundraising efforts of Movember and wanted to share some resources created by the International Association of Fire Fighters.
