My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Prostate cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

Over the past two years, I have had some personal experience with screening for prostate cancer: two prostate biopsies, one MRI and a cystoscopy (the one that's like an alien abduction). So far, I have been lucky, as my current diagnosis is BPH, a benign enlargement of the prostate whose symptoms can be treated non-invasively. At this point I have some daily meds to take and a season ticket at LifeLabs to monitor my PSA levels. I know I am very fortunate to live in a country where screening and high-quality treatment options are readily available.

Whether you choose to donate to this cause or not, I do urge you to encourage any over-45 males in your life to pay attention to their prostate health and go for regular prostate cancer screening. Prostate cancer has one of the highest survival rates, and early detection is key to better outcomes.

A couple of uplifting things I found this Movember: first, it's wonderful to be surrounded by so many generous and encouraging colleagues at Metro Vancouver; second, just walking 60 miles has a great feelgood factor. Thank you to everyone for your amazing support. Metro Van Mos have raised close to $15,000 this year, and $1,300 was donated on my page. As the photo shows, my 'tache is a 30-day aberration, but for my sons it's a year-round choice.
