My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer
Testicular cancer

Hey friends! With COVID, our race entry for the marathon has been postponed, but our fundraising goes on! I'm going to reenter for the Chicago marathon in 2021 or 2022, and this donation will go towards making me a part of that Movember Marathon team. I know I'm not a guy, but my job gives me a unique perspective on the number of men who suffer from cancer and need our help!

Globally, more than 1.4M men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Movember is working to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I want to help them get there.

My surgical practice, in a small town in northern Canada, means that I spend a lot time caring for men with prostrate cancer and prostate issues even though it is not in my specialty. I think men’s prostate (and testicular) health is often under appreciated in comparison to breast cancer health and I would like to raise awareness for my patients and my male colleagues going through the fight. As my friend/surgical colleague said, “life without a prostate is different!” And as someone fully aware of the changes pelvic surgery has on lifestyle and personal lives, I want to help spread the word, and support these men in their struggle.

I plan to run the Chicago Marathon when COVID gives us the freedom to do so again. On this team, I hope to raise awareness for prostate cancer issues. Pledging your support through this page will allow me to reach my goal of $3000 to help research into and management of men's health. In the meantime, I am going to run the Tely10 Virutally in St Johns, NL! I might not be able to grow a luxurious Fu Manchu, but I CAN do this!
