$1.5M to be invested in YOUR men’s health and wellness ideas

The Movember Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the Canadian Men's Health and Wellbeing Innovation Challenge. A grassroots funding opportunity that asks YOU, our Canadian community to submit creative and innovative ideas that not only disrupt long held assumptions about men's health but get men to take action with their health and do things differently.
The Innovation Challenge is a completely new funding approach for the Movember Foundation and we're excited to give you the opportunity to make a difference. $1.5 M has been made available with a maximum of $150K over 2 years for each project. 
The Challenge
Drawing on positive ideas of masculinity, we are looking for ideas that are developed from a male perspective and provide solutions that have potential for quick pick up, with a focus to either:
·      Engage men in healthier behaviour patterns
·      Encourage men to take action early when experiencing symptoms of poor health
·      Focus on health promotion including prevention of illness, social and environmental determinants that contribute to poor health decisions or outcomes
An Example
While not specifically a men's health concept, a creative example for a great idea to change behavior would be Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. This project worked to fight obesity by teaching kids the benefits of fresh food, how to cook, and ultimately change the way they eat.
How to Apply
There is a two-step process:
•     Register and submit a 1 page Innovation Statement telling us about your idea online by Thursday June 26th, 2014 5:00 pm EDT
•     Selected applicants will be notified end of July and asked to pitch their idea in a 3-5 minute video by Monday August 11, 2014 5:00 p m EDT
