Prostate cancer

I had surgery on Dec 14, 2021 for prostate cancer. I have now been pronounced cancer free and have been doing great! I have gotten my company involved and we are raising funds, with this years theme, the Frank Zappa. I tried, but I suspect we chose the wrong model.

Prostate cancer needs our attention.

The statistics are pretty scary, 40% of men over 40 have prostate cancer, 50% over 50, 60% over 60, 70% over 70 and 80% over 80. I have a hope that if many of the people I tell get tested, we can save a life.

If prostate cancer isn’t caught early, it spreads to the lymph nodes, the bones and then other organs. The earlier it is caught the easier the treatment is.

A PSA test is simply a blood test done in conjunction with any other annual physical blood tests. For those that don't want a digital rectal exam, the PSA can be done alone.

None of the exams I have had have been difficult or painful (the digital rectal one was awkward but the others, including a biopsy were physically easy). The more we talk about such things the easier they will be mentally.

From my campaign the year of my surgery, I helped get over 100 men tested that wouldn't have been tested otherwise, and 3 of them are now being monitored or being treated for prostate cancer.

We can all be resilient together, save a life, get yourself or a loved one tested!
