This year marks the inaugural year of The Mo Awards in Canada.
We created 12 award categories to celebrate Mo's all across the country — from community champions to grassroots groups and corporate change agents.
A total of 53 Mo's were shortlisted from 80 submissions. Nominations were put forward by the team at Movember HQ, with a panel of judges selecting the shortlist based on a set criteria for each award.
These awards are a celebration of all the hard work that you all put in. We want to say a huge congratulations to the all nominees and winners. From all of us here at Movember, we’re just getting started in our mission to help men live healthier, happier and longer lives – thank you.

Toronto’s self-billed sexiest Movember event. The 5th annual Movember Polar Dip saw more than 100 Movember supporters strip down to their speedos to take a chilly dip in Lake Ontario for 60 seconds. Those 60 seconds represent the 60 men who will lose their lives every hour to suicide globally. Started by Evan Smith, the 2023 dip was organized along with Jason Hubbell, Scott Cumming & Sara Reid. According to Evan, “The goal of this whole thing is to do something fun together, have a laugh, but to support each other as people, support each other as men.” You can watch Movember’s video about the event here.
Now in its 12th year, the Movember Whitewater Classic is a paddling race down a wild and chilly white-water section of the Ottawa River to raise money for Movember. The event was started by Mo Bro Matthew Hamilton and the 2023 race saw more than 80 participants on the water who collectively raised more than $14,000. As one of Movember’s longest-standing events, the Whitewater Classic has created a powerful legacy of breaking down the stigmas that all too often surround men’s health.
On top of captaining the world’s largest first responder fundraising team, Sam goes the extra mile to personally raise funds and awareness for her brothers in arms at the fire station. With the support of our friends at CIBC, Sam and her moustached themed manicure brought to life her vision of climbing over 100 flights of stairs in full firefighter bunker gear alongside her brothers from the Township of Tiny Fire Department.

CIBC’s Movember campaign is the definition of inclusive impact. CIBC’s ability to rally hundreds of employees to grow, move, or host has become the cornerstone of Movember in Canada. Raising over $275,000 in 2023 this team adds their efforts to the millions of funds raised over the years. Hosting Health Talks, panel discussions, auctions and other events engages the whole team in raising funds and awareness for men’s health.

In 2023, Maury captained BHP's Team Jansen team that raised over $100,000 while also raising a personal record of over $13,000 to bring his 14-year total to over $42K. While the funds raised are impressive, what stands out is how Maury makes sure to lead an inclusive and impactful campaign. He prides himself on engaging Mo Sisters, and promoting the opportunity for people on site to take care of their physical and mental well-being. Maury also leads with vulnerability by sharing his personal connection to the cause, and encouraging his colleagues to talk about their health and normalizing the conversations around the challenges men face with their physical and mental wellbeing.
Michael’s 15-year commitment to the Movember cause goes far beyond the dollars raised. Over 9 years ago, Michael’s younger brother Duncan died by suicide.
