Once a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer, there is often a long wait- sometimes several months- before he gets to see an oncologist. With the $1 M funding for the Edmonton Clinic, men will be able to see their healthcare team within about two weeks of diagnosis.
While finding a cure for prostate cancer is of utmost importance to Movember, survivorship care and education is also crucial to saving lives. Our community has made it possible for the PCC to establish a state-of-the-art prostate cancer treatment center for local men.
The Edmonton Clinic is expected to be complete in 2012, with the prostate clinic opening in 2013. The clinic will have fifteen urologists on staff.
Over 17,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, in the Alberta province, raised $4.4 M in last year's Movember campaign. We are proud to support this achievement with our Edmonton community. Movember's vision is to forever change the face of men's health. Together, we are making a difference.
This is just one of many amazing projects Movember is currently funding. We look forward to sharing more outcomes with you through the year, all made possible by Movember and the power of the Mo.
