It takes a lot to create a legacy. It takes even more to do it with humility, grace, and no need for the spotlight. It's a deeply personal involvement, a sustained commitment and dedication to men's health over a long period of time. It is reflected in Canada's inaugural Movember Legacy Award winner, the Sherway Mo Team.

For over 15 years, they’ve created and grown a culture at their workplace that’s open and receptive to better men’s health; fully backed at the highest levels. At their workplace, regular, open discussions about men’s health feel right at home. It feels natural, because it is authentic. The Sherway family has faced many men's health issues over the years, some ending in tragedy, and some in the kinds of positivity, health and goodness we hope to see at Movember. Men living longer, healthier, happier lives.

Plus, throughout that time, the group have sat near the top of the Movember team fundraising ladder. That’s a run that’s unheard of across any country that Movember operates in. And it’s been made possible by the company getting friends, families, staff and suppliers onboard with men’s health; going so far as to get them donating items to Sherway Group’s Movember fundraising auctions.

“[Winning the Movember Legacy Award] is one of the most significant achievements in my life; greater than any other team championship or award,” says Ric Gomes of the Sherway Mo Team.

“It validated the hard work, dedication, and passion we’ve poured into our Movember mission,” says Tony Mariani, another member of the team. “The recognition not only celebrated our achievements but also inspired us to continue striving for excellence.”

The team at Mo HQ is pouring over an incredible list of very worthy candidates for this year's Legacy Award. It is part of the magic of Movember, this embrace of our mission to support men's health. The Sherway team shares; “We hope our story inspires future groups to start to see the potential they have. They don’t need to be a major corporation to affect change within their communities. Just have a positive mindset, goals and support from those who care for you, and who you care most about.”

The Movember Legacy Award winner for 2025 will be announced Thursday, March 27th at the 2nd annual Mo Awards held in Toronto.
