This Men’s Health Week marks the launch of Movember Canada’s Real Face of Men’s Health Report – a first-ever demonstration of the state of men’s health in Canada that shares new data on the ripple effect it has throughout society. We’re calling for a National Men’s Health Strategy to stop men dying too young. We need a plan that ensures health services, systems and policies are responsive to the unique needs of boys and men – especially those who face systemic disadvantages.

To help spread the word and encourage conversation about men’s health in Canada, our epic partner, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team stepped up, amping up the volume on this important conversation.

Mikey Brown has entered the chat. Father, partner, teammate and the Number 1 Mechanic for Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, Mikey shared his story and his voice to help shine a light on the importance of men’s health -- not just on his team, but in communities and families.

As Mikey and the racing team knows all too well, the mental and physical demands on F1 drivers and teams are increasingly challenging – high pressure, high performance, long distances and lengths of time away from family and friends. The health and wellbeing of the driver has impact beyond the individual.

As Mikey put it, “For me it’s just [about] surrounding myself with guys I feel comfortable with, which is my crew. You try to train where you can, keep yourself fit for the travelling. Whether or not I’m having a bad day or a good day, I’m usually there for them to talk to. Looking out for myself is huge, so I can be a safety net for the guys.”

The mental and physical health of the entire team is something that’s discussed openly and is top of the agenda for Sporting Director, Andy Stevenson: “Having been in this industry for nearly 40 years, I know that it can really take its toll. Our focus on mental health has evolved into a top priority; I am always looking for new resources for the guys, new ways to have the right conversations. That’s why Movember's work is so important. While the team looks out for one another, we don’t have all the answers on our own.”

With the Canadian Grand Prix marking the middle of Aston Martin’s 2025 season, this year’s partnership between Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, and Movember is just getting started.

Debbie Wall, ESG Director at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team shares,“The partnership between Aston Martin Aramco Formula One and Movember has always made sense. It’s a natural fit. This is a high-pressure environment where the mental health and wellbeing of our entire team is a high priority. To raise awareness for a cause that not only impacts the men on the team, but their colleagues, their families and their friends is something that we’re very proud to be a part of.”

This is the Real Face of Men’s Health

We all have partners, fathers, brothers, sons, and buddies that we love. When these men are well, the benefits ripple through relationships, families, and communities. But when these men are unwell and unsupported, we all feel it.

Too many men are dying too young, largely from preventable causes. Help-seeking can feel foreign, so many men kick the can down the road. When they do seek assistance, they often don’t get the support they need. And this puts enormous pressure on the families and communities who care for men.

It means we’ve got so many reasons to care about men’s health. And it’s why we must advocate for more public action to drive change.
