My motivation

Fundraising for cause areas including:

Testicular cancer
Prostate cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention
Men's health

Everyone everywhere in some way or another knows someone whose life has been changed by mental health, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, etc. I plan on doing my part by growing a beautiful; but yet stylish, moustache to raise money and awareness in support of men’s health.

This cause is so important to me because I have witnessed the effects that cancer can have on a family. I can still remember the day that my best friend Cody got the news that his father (Fred) was diagnosed with cancer. It was terrifying news that only leaves you wondering how? Why? What could we have done? And just the fear of not knowing what obstacles lie ahead.

But Fred looked passed all those obstacles, and he found strength and courage to tackle this demon head on. He always found a way to make us laugh, support us and truly make the best of every situation he had faced. Fred was an amazing family man that always made you feel included and a part of their family. He truly was great person.

Fred had passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Once Cody and I found out that Movember was the leading charity changing the face of men’s health, it was a no brainer that we would support them forever. We thought it was the perfect way to do our part to help make a difference. It is one month where you get to grow a moustache, raise money, raise awareness, and have some fun while doing so. We made a pack to one another that we would participate every single year.

Then tragedy struck again,

On August 11th, 2017 my best friend Cody had lost his life in a fatal ATV accident. I was devastated and heartbroken. It was the most pain I have ever felt. This tragedy left a big hole in me that I still deal with on a day-to-day basis. But what has helped me get through the pain was remembering the good times we have spent together; all the memories of playing hockey together, going to concerts together, travelling together and even participating in movember together.

So every year, for the month of November, I proudly wear a moustache on my upper lip! Although I do get some strange looks and some people laugh; I know that Fred and Cody are smiling down on me.
