My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Besides the chance to ruin another set of family Christmas pictures (according to Patti) there are several reasons I participate. One is the mental health issues related to not only first responders but to a large part of the general public. I myself have found it to be a challenging year. 7 years in the fire service responding to calls on evenings and weekends plus 16 years in the Coast Guard, add in some Covid 19 stresses and multiply that with trying to be a supportive husband and good father. No wonder totaled is how I feel some days, and I know I'm not alone. I am though, able to count myself lucky. Lucky that I have great support systems. My amazing wife and two lovely daughters, a Critical Incident Stress Management team that I'm part of with the Fire department and a Trauma Resiliency Team with the Coast Guard have given me the tools to deal with most anything. For those things I can't, I know I can talk to someone who will help me work through those issues towards a positive out come. Not everyone is so lucky. Either there are no support systems in place for them, or maybe they are but there's still a stigmatism in play when considering reaching out to them. Regardless, we need to educate both the general public, and first responders, that you're not alone and that there are people and agencies dedicated to support you an your mental health. Everyone comes home, lets make sure they come home healthy.

Thank-you for your commitment and support.

We've now arrived at Movember 30 and everyone in this challenge should pause for a moment to reflect on an amazing job done, what can only be described as an epic 'stache and an impressive commitment to help change the face of men's health.

As Mo season is coming to a close, I want to flag that the leaderboards will officially close on Thursday, December 7th at 5 pm EST, marking the moment we crown our 2023 Movember champions of each challenge. While donations can still be received after this time, please note that they won't contribute to the leaderboard race.

Thanks for all you have done this year and will continue to do as we move forward.

One week down and what a week. Isolating with my father in Vancouver who had to come up for medical reasons. Facing the reality of so many of our generation. Trying to care for a parent with Dementia while working from home and completing online courses. Must be why it's coming in so gra.
