Suffice to say it’s that time of year again, Movember! As we all know mental health, physical health and general self-awareness are not isolated to a single day or a single month, but for some the battle has to be fought minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.

I do this for the friends I have sat with in crisis, the men like me who live with anxiety, and have founds lumps and gone through the turmoil of waiting for results. It can be truly terrifying and men typically isolate themselves during these times, letting the monkey chatter run rampent and digging themselves into a hole.

Anxiety has been a seriously interesting as well as a scary journey for me that started in the midst of Covid. I know, and use, numerous coping methods I have taught others to use, and still it came knocking at my door. I’ve faced my own mortality and wondered whether I was going to see the next day. Through it all I have learned to take steps back when I need to, to use medication and invest in my continued personal development to make sure I give myself the best possible help I can and use the tools I have access to.

I take part in Movember every year to keep raising awareness about men’s health, not because we’re any more important than other genders but because historically we have sucked at speaking up. If one person reads my story, resonates with something I say or do and starts looking in the mirror and speaking up if they need help, then it’s worth it.

Support this great campaign whether it’s sponsoring me or just talking to the men in your life about mental and physical health. Whatever way you do it, just please don’t stay silent.

End of week 3 and the caterpillar is coming along nicely. No alcohol for 4 weeks, no dairy did get broken, personal trainer sessions still continue. Feel great, looking better, love being clear headed and overall feeling more alive.
