Overview
What
Movember is the only global charity focused soley on men's health.
Since 2003, we’ve empowered millions of men and women to join the global men’s health movement. Through the moustaches grown, the connections created, and the conversations generated, we've raised $839 million to fund 1,250 breakthrough men’s health projects in 20 countries.
When
The seed of an idea first sprouted over a few beers in Melbourne 2003, when two friends challenged each other to grow a moustache for the duration of November. Recruiting the support of 30 loyal friends, together they experienced a month of inquisitive conversation as a result of their newly acquired facial hair, and the power of the Mo as a conversation starter and awareness raiser was realized. This year, Movember will mark its 15th year in Canada.
A detailed history of the early years is contained in this Hairy Tale.
We want to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives through investing in three key areas: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Funds
Funds raised go towards supporting innovative world-class men’s health programs supporting our key areas: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. To date, Movember has helped fund more than 1,250 men's health projects.
We fund health programs through Movember and our men’s health partners.
Prostate and Testicular Cancer:
We invest in research and health services that contribute to less men dying from prostate and testicular cancer and to improve the quality of life for those that live with the disease, both physically and mentally.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention:
Mental health is an integral part of health. We invest in programs that help men and boys stay mentally healthy. In Canada, we invest in health services that will focus on community-level prevention programs to improve mental health.
