We're excited to announce that 40 Movember Discovery Grants for 2013 were funded today through our friend and men's health partner Prostate Cancer Canada. That's an $8 million investment in research projects that stretch from the western shores of British Columbia, over the rocky mountains of Alberta, through the plains of Manitoba, across the highways of Ontario and throughout Quebec. This diverse group of grants represents the exceptional talent of these researchers who call Canada home.

What's a Movember Discovery Grant, you ask? It builds on the success of the existing Pilot Grant program and continues supporting researchers in that key stage of obtaining early results. The Discovery Grant program supports junior investigators and allows more established investigators to pursue new important directions.

Take a look at just a couple programs we are funding in 2013:

Researcher  Institution Project Title
Antonio Finelli University Health Network Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Antonio will be taking a deeper look at active surveillance for low-risk prostate cancer
Alice Dragomir McGill University and The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center Alice will be studying the social and economic effects of treatment resistant prostate cancer
Nawaid Usmani University of Alberta Nawaid's research will try to help better predict the risk of radiation toxicity after prostate radiotherapy

Keep up the good work Mo Bros and Mo Sistas! Thanks for helping us make a difference.
