Our work with First Nations

Indigenous men have much worse physical and mental health outcomes compared to all other men in Canada.

Movember is determined to address this by partnering with Indigenous communities and organizations. Through innovative programing and systems change we hope to improve the way these men receive healthcare and support services.

Movember

Change starts at home. The Movember team is committed to building greater understanding of colonial history and the impacts on our relationships with Indigenous peoples. This relationship building continues to lead us to make a formal commitment to each other and our Movember community. In the spirit of treaty, many meaningful relationships with individuals and organizations have been made, and we believe that many more will follow.

Connecting to culture and traditional ways of being are known protective factors for mental health and wellbeing.

Movember works with Indigenous communities in Australia, New Zealand and Canada to restore connection to culture across three areas: land-based programs, social connection programs and correctional services programs.

Movember is dedicated to partnering with Indigenous communities in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada to restore connection to culture. Our large-scale commitment to First Nations communities aims to tackle the alarming health disparities experienced by Indigenous men through holistic, community-driven approaches. To achieve better health outcomes, we must prioritise social and emotional wellbeing.

Work 2 Give doesn't just build furniture and items for local communities; it builds bridges between individuals, cultures, and generations. The skills, camaraderie, and immersive cultural experiences offered to incarcerated men act as a lifeline for participants. It's a testament to the healing power of giving back, and a reminder that true redemption lies in service to others.
