Motivation

For the fourth consecutive year, OPG is coming together under the banner of One M’OPG to champion the Movember cause. Our team name, a nod to our One OPG efforts, is testament to our cross-team collaborative spirit, uniting us as we grow, move, and raise awareness to change the face of men’s health.

Last year, our collective efforts culminated in Canada’s largest team, made up of 137 members (top 2 in the WORLD). Together, we covered 2940 km of exercise and raised over $56,000 ($250k to date).
This year, our targets include rallying a team of over 150 members, raising $50,000, and collectively covering a distance of 3000 km. (This distance symbolizes the stretch from our most northwest facilities in Kenora to Point Lepreau, New Brunswick, representing the expansive engagement across OPG).

Historically, the Movember movement within OPG has seen a male-centric participation, but the invitation is open to all. Growing a moustache has always been iconic of Movember but is not a prerequisite to contribute. Every kilometer covered, dollar donated, or conversation started makes a difference.
There is less than a week to go - the countdown to Movember is on. Join the MOvement and get growing, moving and starting conversations to help promote men’s health.

When I first decided to participate in Movember at the age of 19, I never imagined I’d still be taking part 15 years later. Back then, being the son of a man surviving terminal cancer defined much of my identity. When my dad passed away eight years ago, I heard hundreds of people say, "Be strong for your family" or "You're the man of the house now."

I took on society’s narrow view of what it meant to be a "strong" man. I “manned up,” hardened myself like a rock, avoided vulnerability, and did everything in my power to not be seen as weak. I disassociated from all emotions, didn’t allow myself to grieve, and over time, that emotional suppression showed up as physical health issues. I lost my sense of self and put everyone else’s needs before my own.

For the past two years, I’ve been focused on healing—physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Not from the trauma of losing my father, but from the toll of trying to live up to the traditional ideals of masculinity. While I no longer claim this story as my identity, I'm grateful for all the chapters of my life and am elated to share that I’m starting to see and feel the impact of my journey toward self-discovery.

I invite you to share if my message resonates with you, ask questions about my journey, or reach out if you are looking for a safe space to remove the mask of masculinity.
Let’s start a conversation that helps create a world where tears are seen as strength, not weakness.
Let’s redefine what it means to be strong—together.

What a Movember!! I reached all of my goals and it feels damn good!! I raised $2060 (Goal: $2015), I walked 181 kilometers (goal: 180km) and I hosted a Mo'ment (raised $600). It's still just a small drop in the bucket, but with my drop and all your drops, that bucket is pretty full. Thanks Movember and Team OPG for letting me be a part of something so amazing

Today we ride for Men's Mental Health, Prostate Cancer & Testicular Cancer. Riding a motorcycle in 5° weather is never a good idea, but braving the cold is nothing compared to suffering in silence. Please pledge my ride... every little bit helps!!

Day 7, 23 to go. We are behind on our target by ~$5.7K based on almost a quarter of the way through. Let's kick it up a notch and spread the word! This needs to be viral on social media.

One M’OPG Team –
What an unbelievable month.
Another campaign in the books, and this one was unquestionably our best yet!
Once again, our efforts have surpassed all expectations to drive meaningful conversations and awareness for some very important areas including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer through our ONE M'OPG MOvember Campaign.
A huge thanks to everyone who participated this year in our historic ONE M'OPG Movember Campaign.
Without you, this charity drive would not have reached this level of success and recognition worldwide.

THREE DAYS LEFT! Final push to 50k and 1500km !! Great work team!
Let's start the votes for best stache'!

I got myself checked for some of the Men's health risks this November and discussed the importance of regular health checkups and certain cancer screening at certain age!

Awesome that the Mo of the day is flowing through PN now. Thanks Josh Burns!

Keeping it in the Pickering team, I nominate Fraser Gray as the Mo of the Day as he makes fun of my teen stash more than anyone (which is saying something).

Let's try this again! Josh Burns, I nominate you for mustache (or lack thereof) of the day! Pass it on and don't forget to post a pic of the all time greats!

The VP of Drivercheck, who was instrumental in ensuring OPG employees had access to our test clinics throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, is facing a cancer diagnosis - please share or donate here:

From his page: "Connor Page, was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer in April 2022. Despite having multiple CTs, biopsies and an MRI, it took four months to diagnose and he was ultimately hospitalized because of the severity of the pain. He was diagnosed a month after his 39th birthday with a cancer that has an average age of onset of 71. "

Shout out to one of our inspirational Movember leaders, Jason Wight, Chief Information Officer, for being one of the first two people to reach $750.00 in donations.
Thanks to this and the many donations we've received, we're number 8 in all of Canada and driving those important conversations in men's health!

Mo Brothers & Sisters

It’s time to ramp up the Mo-Spirit with a “Mo of the day” post! Rules are easy: I’ll post a “Mo of the day” pic today, and then nominate another Mo Bro/Sis to post the next day (note - you need to harass your nominee to ensure they get the message!). The cycle continues until the month ends. Let’s keep spreading the Mo-message. I nominate Neil Mohan to post tomorrows “Mo of the day”.

Huge shout out to Ray Klingler - #77 on the individual leaderboards for all of Canada! Chuck approves.
