Ma motivation

My motivation is my husband, Jamie.

Jamie was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in 2023. In an overwhelming & intense 8 week period he went through evaluations, blood tests, surgery, diagnosis, treatment, and is now in remission.

The process to ensure that Jamie is “cleared” is ongoing but currently he has a 20% chance of reoccurrence and risk of second cancers forming.

His strength and positive energy helped push me through my training plan and I completed my first half-marathon with Mo-Running in Edinburgh, Scotland November 2023 and we raised £1070 (HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR AMAZING FRIENDS AND FAMILY)

During this time we also faced the possibility of infertility and the unknown really had us questioning what we wanted and most importantly if/when we were able to start a family.

Coincidentally, on our trip to Edinburgh (we literally bought a test in the airport), we found out we were expecting. It was a crazy but beautiful surprise! Callen was born 3 days after of his Dad’s surgery anniversary.

These past years, we didn’t let the fear of cancer take over and pun very much intended we continue to "grab life by the ball(s)" and look forward to what's ahead with a little one in tow.

I am proud to be a Mo Sister for another year and take on the initiative to fight against cancer and support the evolution of men's mental heath/suicide prevention.

We are starting fundraising early this year at Callen's Birthday. We hope to encourage him to speak freely about his mental health and encourage others to do the same.
