My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Prostate cancer
Testicular cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

This November Hawk and I will be walking 60 miles for the Movember 60 for 60 cause, for the 60 men worldwide who commit suicide every hour.

I have personal reasons to support this cause, after going through my own prostate cancer scare in the past few years. So far I have stayed lucky with my test results, and I am grateful I live in a country where high-quality medical screening and treatment are freely available. After several rounds of PSA tests, MRIs and biopsies, my next adventure looks like being prostate enucleation, which is a minimally invasive surgical treatment for BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia).

Thanks for taking the time to read this far. Whether you choose to give money or not, I encourage you to talk to your loved ones about regular screening for male cancers, and to have frank conversations about mental health.

A couple of uplifting things I found this Movember: first, it's wonderful to be surrounded by so many generous and encouraging colleagues at Metro Vancouver; second, just walking 60 miles has a great feelgood factor. Thank you to everyone for your amazing support. Metro Van Mos have raised close to $15,000 this year, and $1,300 was donated on my page. As the photo shows, my 'tache is a 30-day aberration, but for my sons it's a year-round choice.
